The Midnight were formed in 2003 and are a Folk-Medieval-Fantasy band based in Tuscany. The choice of the name “The Midnight” is no coincidence: “Midnight” is a metaphor not only for a time long past, but also for a mysterious “elsewhere” – the magical hour of the night par excellence, when fairies and elves dance in the woods, wizards prepare their spells, and witches gather beneath a great walnut tree.
As modern-day minstrels, they perform melodies inspired by gentle Celtic, medieval, and Renaissance ballads, as well as lively rhythms drawn from folk and popular traditions. Their performances are made even more captivating through settings and costumes inspired by fantasy culture.
Through music, stage design, and costumes, the show seeks to revive the charm and enchantment of fantasy literature – a narrative suspended between epic and fantasy, magic and mystery, where the events unfold in an imagined “middle realm,” a bridge between a timeless Middle Ages, an improbable future, and an alternate universe inhabited by magical creatures.
After more than ten years of absence, they return to Triskell with a renewed sound to close the 26th Edition of the Festival.
